Key comes out of ignition while car is in drive/reverse

Should this be happening? I didn't think you were able to turn cars (automatics) off while in drive or reverse. I have been driving a stick for years and I'm not used to putting my car in park before turning it off. So, a couple of times I have pulled into a parking spot, turned the car off, and got out the car. Then when I get back in my car, it is in drive or everse. Is this standard for the 9G?

no. thats not even close to normal...

take it to the dealer.

The cables that go to the steering wheel may be off, I know thats how it is on my G, didnt cause a problem for me but you may wanna look into it.

for the 9g you gotta put the shift to park first before you can remove the key probably a security part, so see if you can get that checked just to be on the safe side
