    7G Transmission

i had my transmission replaced a while back due to all the gears melting together somehow when my uncle was driving it. now i have a new one in there and im guessing its the same as stock but it shifts alot harder. anyway i was wondering if this transmision could handle being turbocharged and if its the same as the 2g eclipse fwd transmission?

No the 2g turbo tranny is not the same as a 7g tranny. And having a tranny that shifts too hard can be a + or a -.Shifting hard means that the tranny has fresh internals or it means that there a boost in pressure in the trans due to a worn seals!! So if i were you i would change fluid to make sure theres no metal in there!!

it feels like it's shifting hard because it really IS shifting hard and it was rebuilt like shit, or your just not used to the healthy tranny. it will handle a turbo no problem. how long it lasts, is a gamble.

Harder shifts are better as long as it is not the product of a malfunction. Harder shifting means it's clamping quicker which means less slipping which means cooler fluid which means less slipping which means longer life. It also means it won't shift into 3rd before 20mph like mine does.

not really. if your tranny cooler is so large that your transmission fluid does not reach operatuing temperature, then you are screwing yourself. you will always be running too much pressure w/o enough protection.
or, it may take dozens of miles to fully warm up the tranny when cold.
