fuel pump should be covered by your warranty, manybrews would be able to tell you for sure though. IMO you should get a walbro 190. direct replacement for the OEM pump and it drops right in. do the re-wire as well

rewire is just a mod to increase available voltage (eliminate voltage starvation due to tiny wires)
you can rewire yoru stock pump, or any aftermarket pump you choose.

you can get walbro 190's for around 85 shipped on ebay.
thats how much i paid for my 255lph HP

yup, your exactly right. I wired in a relay and I have a 16 gauge wire going to the pump straight from the battery. If you want the pump to flow the full 255lph, you need to rewire it.

that was an easy mod. w/ my battery relocation i needed all of 3 feet of wire and a nice tuck under the carpet

your mileage will not increase unless your old pump was faulty and wasn't giving the fuel your engine needed. if you're getting bad mpg how do you know it's the fuel pump? you might have a problem elsewhere. if you drive like a lunatic 20mpg sounds normal
