Wow mrjaydee...thank goodness that it didn't break while you were traveling in a higher rate of speed. The damage from the pics looks bad...but repairable definitely.

One of the VERY first things I did when I got -G-rim was to get the lower ball joint recall done. Literally had it done the 2nd day of ownership. From what I remember from the service writer telling me about the lower ball joint recall is that the 97+ Galants and Eclipses got the new updated design lower ball joints the same ones that were replacing the pre 97 vehicles.

yeah I didn't even think about it when I got the car last year. Well the car is fixed and I am getting it tomorrow morning. My dad told me a bunch of stuff that needed to be replaced that was all done along with an alignment too. Off the top of my head I remember him saying the lower control arm, ball joint, inner and outer tie rods (both sides), axle was bent and replaced, sway bar link was replaced, and strut was bent and replaced. I wonder if I should go to a dealer and see if they can tell me if the lower ball joint was ever replaced under the recall

I don't think he actually owns a Galant. Just a model or matchbox car.
