    AHHHH ROTORS Wont COme off!!

I am trying to change my sisters Brakes and Rotors, SHe has a 99 i4. I took off the caliper and the peice the caliper bolts on to. Now I just have the rotor. I beat the shit out of it with a metal hammer! And it wouldnt come off! Now I got a sledge hammer and beat it even harder. I have been hitting the back of the rotor and sometimes in the front! The son of a bitch still would not come off! I also tried the bolt method but the bolt gets bent and the thread on the bolt strips! ANybody have any ideas!

Ouch. PB Blaster, and hammer on oppossite sides. Hit one side, hit the oppisite, hit the other side, and repeat.

well, i dont know where or how you are hitting it, but try to hit it all the way around. like in a circular pattern. front and back. I dont recommend that sledge you said you are using. if you have to use it, double up a rag or towel to make sure you arent pitting the rotor. a rubber mallet would be best. that should help break up the rust that has probably fused it to the car. also try some WD-40 and use the little red tube and try to get into the areas where you think it might be sticking and wait about 10-15 minutes. let me know how that werks.

To late, the rotor already is pitted lol! I tried WD-40. ANd I am moviing the rotor in a circular motion. I am hitting the back of the rotor where the caliper would go. The empty space where ther is no backing plate. All the rust broke off and is laying under the rotor lol.. DO i have to take off the center nut? The nut that is in between all the 5 lugs?

Yes, this will work. The BFH will help once heated. If you have a plumbing torch handy, give it a shot. Heat up the area around the hub and around the parking break drum.

dont move the rotor in a circular motion. the thing i was talking about is essentially the same as what seth said. you have to kind werk it out. hit left to right back and forth and then top to bottom and so one until it werks itself out.

i would torch it only if you are familiar with the torch

Not behind at all, just on the face. Between the lugs and around the drum part of the rear rotor.

use your hand too man. just yank that big out while you are hitting the other side with a hammer. This is my new thought since I reread your original post and you said you are replacing them. Fcuk worrying about the pits man. Beat that shit up.

and no, you dont have to remove that center nut
