    Pressure Washing Chrome Rims???

Can you pressure wash chrome wheels? Also, can you pressure wash your car? I thought that you could and it wouldn't hurt eaither the wheels or the paint on the car.
I did the wheels and the chrome chipped off of one wheel. I wasn't very close to the wheels because I didn't want to hurt them. I thought that it's ok to use a pressure washer on the chrome. Does anyone know if that should have happened or not?

you can of course use a pressure washer to wash your car and wheels but its up to a certain psi. i mean people use pressure washers to strip paint. the lower the pressure I believe the better.

i find that the water pressure coming out of the hose is good enough. the only time i use the pressure washer is during the winter to wash off the salt and other corrosive chemicals found on the road.

if you have a quality chrome wheel and have a pressure washer set to a low setting you should be fine. you might want to go an extra step to remove the center caps since many times the center caps are plastic and the chrome on them are a lil bit fragile compared to the chrome on the wheel itself.

I never recommend spraying high pressure on your wheels. Always use low pressure, use soap and water, and a nice chrome cleaner like Eagle One if the dirt or brake dust isn't coming off.

Eagle 1 Chrome and Wire cleaner rocks! Just spray it on, let it sit, lightly wash it off.

The nozzle you use has alot to do with it. If you run low PSI and a nozzle that is very narrow, you can still get the water causing damage. You should use low PSI, and a nozzle that spreads out the water, not concentrate it into one small spot.

Or just use good ol' fashion elbow wax.

I just use a good wheel brush and water...easy enough.

I have the foose speedster 5 wheels in chrome. They are made by MHT wheels, and i thought that they were pretty good quality. I usually just use soap and water which works great, but we had the pressure washer out and i just wanted to hit it because it was dirty.

I have tried those products that you spray on and wait then just wash it off on my old wheels and i didn't really like it. I think it was making the glue come off of the fake bolts that went around the wheel. They kept falling off after i started using it. Those wheels were gianelle, made by WTW corp., who also makes giovanna, g-racing and gfg wheels....maybe i just have bad luck with wheels...

Thanks for the replys though, i have to now go see about fixing up my other wheel. maybe its still under warranty :?

Why? All you need for chrome wheels is soap and water. Thats it. No other chemicals. For any wheel for that matter. If you wash your car on a regular basis, there should be no need for any other chemicals.

Then why use wax on your car? Using chrome wheel cleaner or any standard wheel cleaner is good to use on dirty wheels or wheels that have heavy corrosion or brakedust. Soap and water is good to use if you use it regularly. However most people don't and therefore products like Eagle One Wheel Cleaner are availible.

Sorry, man. Im just not a fan of all the different wheel chemicals. But c'mon, how could you put wax and wheel cleaner in the same category? I ve seen too many people use some of that crap and ruin the finish on there alloys back in the day. Id rather keep it clean or use abit of elbow grease. Not saying anything bad About E1 because i used to LOVE the WET line of wax that they use to make but dont anymore. Atleast i cant find it.
