Redline Hood Struts

Hey I dont remember reading anywhere, did any one with a CF or FG hood end up getting a set? How do they work with that, I mean no one has had a problem with the FG or CF cracking from stress or anything have they?

Funny you bring this up. I got them for my carbon fiber hood and I was going to install them Saturday, but I got scared. I'm not sure how well those rivets will hold into the fiberglass frame of the hood. It was also too cold Saturday... I was worried the fiberglass could crack being so cold. I'll wait 'til it's warmer out or see if I can get my car in my parents garage and warm it up with a kerosene heater.

I'm pretty sure they're fine with a CF hood, just make sure that you secure the rivits very well, any looseness will cause cracking.

As a reseller of this product, I have not had anyone with CF hoods on other cars complain about the install yet. I'm speaking of Eclipses, Scion xB's, and Scion tC's (those are car models I recall quickly having sold to people with CF hoods). If you take the install easy and slow you should have no problem at all.

Yes, with these you need to specifiy that you have a CF hood, they'll give you 2 5 lb shocks rather than 2 10lb jobbies.

I bought my hood struts probably around a year ago from Liz. One of the best mods I've done to the car ever. Something so simple makes a huge difference, especially when popping your hood

yea i totally agree. before i'd go to my car with like some tools and i'd have to set them down to open up the hood and put the prop in but now its one handed operation. i can just jump right in since the tools are already in hand. plus the hood prop doesn't get in the way of the cord for my work light

guys try 2 part epoxy first.... you can get some quick set kind and shouldnt have issues with rivits..

I wouldnt do this, as RedLine specifically have tested and proven their installation methods to work properly.

of course, if they offer it for CF and they have not had complaints what do you think the answer is?

I installed them on my CF hood today and they work great! No problems installing them whatsoever. The rivets hold perfectly fine in the fiberglass. I didn't take any pics because my car is too damn dirty, especially the engine bay.

agreed. this is one of my favorite mods on the entire car, especially since i'm always popping open the hood.

i even got a set to work on my cf trunk and got rid of the tensioner bars. :)
