Go to your local Auto Zone and they'll scan your car for free and look up any codes that you have.

    not a car problem *ahem*

Try Jegs, they have a large catalog of not just parts, but tools and equipment. Might be a good shot

the local joke around here is that their machine only puts out o2 codes.. persanally ive never gone there to be scanned and never will.. if they give u a number then thats use full.. but ive had customers come in that have replaced ever o2 on their car and it was a vacume leak that made the o2 senser read lean which is what its supposed to do and it is a o2 code.. the only o2 code that means o2s are bad is the slow response code(s)

    Depending on your year Galant:
    www.digitaltuning.com

Thats the cable I have, but I am running a 2g ECU, dont think it matters though. As long as your car is 97/98 you should be able to use the OBDII cable.

Unless I'm reading it wrong they show a "pocketlogger" for OBDII is that what you're talking about?

I think 97/98 were the only full OBDII Galants. Check your ECU, how many yellow plugs? Do you have both an OBDII and OBDI port?

I noticed that everyone goes crazy to Autozone to have their codes read and what not. I know some of you 7Gers know that if you short certain pins on the data port that the ECU will flash the codes for you on the dash where the check engine light is. Its a trick that has been done since cars first came out with ODB. Read the FSM or get a cheesy Chiltons Book and see what I am talking about.

Not how fast your car goes but how good u drive going fast.

ive never even heard of doin that on obd2.. now esp. on honda's thats tru to get the codes to flash the light but w/ an obd2 car im pretty sure they eliminated that..
seth yes i do believe 96 galants got both as did many imports of that year b/c they didnt want to force thier techs to buy a new tool just to scan the cars they work on every day but in 97 they twisted thier techs arms to buy one..
    http://www.obd2.com/palm/data/palm.htm
this is what im going to set up to be using.. i already have the soft ware i just gotta reload the data to the palm so it will read it.. i have the cable routed through my dash..(well not through the dash kinda just behind it)

I looked at the port I got on my 96 galant and compared it to the one on my 2000 Ranger and they look very very different!
