    Vacum leak

So I got a vacum leak, it pety bad, I can even hear it.
It seems to come from somehwere in the front of the intake many (obviously) but I can't find it.
Is there any way to find this or am I going to the dealer with this?
I heard there is some kind of machine that find these things.
Why I got half a mind to...ahhh...never mind I just got half a mind.

just get a length of vacum hose, and put one end in your ear.
use the other end to trace over the intake manifold(like a stethoscope)
you should be able to find your leak easily that way.

    places to check.
    all of your vacuum hoses.
inspoect them for leaks cracks holes whatever.
lower fuel injector seals(where they plug into the manifold)
    intake manni gasket.
    pcv hose.
    intake manni gasket
    throttle gasket.
base idle adjustment screw o ring.

have you done any work to it recently?

how is your idle? does your car sputter at all?

Yeah I took it all off the manifold and had the mani polished and ported to match the porting on the head.
The idle is rough, and she does sputter but I sort of fixed that with the mixture screw
OK so I actually have a stethoscope, I am not sure why I have it, but I'll use that and go over al the places you mentioned. It seems to come fronm the TB ( I took that off too).
    Thanks for the tip.

I just had the same problem in the same area. Turned out to be a bad gasket between the intake manifold and the throttle body. A new gasket is very cheap. It takes about 30 minutes tops to change it.

One mechanics trick to find vacuum leaks: Spray carb cleaner in little bursts on all the vacuum hoses, gaskets, etc. The vacuum will suck in the spray and as it is burned the idle will raise slightly. I also have a mechanics stethoscope and that (or equivalent) works too.

I am prety sure that that where it is in theIM to TB area, but I think I did change the gasket. Oh well I'll try to fond it later on when I get home.
    Thanks

If you dont care about inspections just get a block off plate. Keep electrical plugged in so you dont get a CEL(might not get an EVAP CEL anywho) and block that sucker off. Its just stupid emissions crap.

I found out that I can't get a new solenoid untill Wend, so I am wondering in the mean time if I can just pull off the hoses , there's one going in one out, plug the solenoid with vacum hose plugs and then connect the two hose to eachother. Will the car run?

Did that bypassed it and had no bad effect on the car.
