    transmission fluid

    i have a 02 es how to i drain the fluid an where is the filter? just changed my oil the old man says to go get it done at pepboys for 120 :shock: yeah right...

    the filter is inside the transmission. no need to replace the filter unless your like rebuilding the tranny.

    the drain bolt for the tranny should be on the bottom of the tranny

    really? thats it? for 120 im doin it next weekend...so under the tranny drain bolt is jsut like the oil one right...

    pinoyesv6 has a tutorial from the service manual and manybrews says to just drain and fill it every 15k miles as i remember. You pick what you think is better.

    just make sure to get some mitsu diamond 3 atf.

    drain and fill should be plenty. unless you've neglected changing your fluid in the past. then you might do what i do and take the extra step to also flush the old fluid from the cooler and the lines

    how many quarts do i use i only bought 5 is that good? i4 engine, im doin it right now and i need to know how much i need to put in?

    i usually just buy a case of 12.

    the tutorial says 10 but if you flush out more than 10 quarts then you have to replace more than 10 quarts. but yea don't overfill the tranny with fluid. start with 10, check the fluid and add if necessary

    ok tutorial says...... 6 carts and flush...... add for more after flush and you will be good. you put in a little too much but i think your good. check it tomorrow make sure its good.

    tutorial says drain. add 5.8 quarts. drain. add 3.7 quarts. then add if necessary

    about how many quarts are suppose to be in the transmission? im not trien to come up short of fluid.the reason i ask is because if u drain the old fluid then add about 6 quarts then drain ALL that out then add 4 there wont be any left if i needed to add more.i bought 10 quarts

    the transmission holds about 8-9 quarts of oil depending on which transmission you have.

    the only reason you might need more is if more oil drains out than what it says on paper. totally natural. you'll just need more oil. i mean think about it, when you go to the doctors and they tell you to piss in the cup, 9 times out of 10 you just don't piss just enough to fill the cup. either you give it back like half full cuz u can't piss or you fill it up and then put the rest in the toilet. same deal.

    but yea, i don't see whats so hard about going out to buy more oil. if you're afraid you're gonna need more oil, go out and get more oil.
