Talked to a TEIN rep the other day about Galant listings!!!!

I need people in California who also have the TEIN Basic and/or the SS to go and physically show them that the Eclipse coilovers fit. I talked to the rep for about 15min telling him about this site. Now, he is saying that since they do the test fitting here also, they can't say anything or put the Galant application in the catalog until they see that they fit without modding. Hopefully you guys get what I'm saying. If no one in Cali has them, hopefully someone will make a drive so that we and others that don't know about the site will see the application in the catalog. We have a chance to get the Galant into more things.

ROFL, galant into more things, the majority of people around here that I've found are cheap and god forbid something new come out with our car, they will go for the eclipse part instead.

so what would be the point? we all know the eclipse setup fits our cars...so why would we care if it's in the catalog or not?

If people out there didn't know that for a fact the Eclipse application fits, they could find the Galant application in the coilover setup.

He's sayin if we get Galant parts listed in the catalog, more people will mod Galants when they see parts available, which will cause more of u guys to see modded Galants and bring em to TGC, which will cause bigger meets, new pics, more threads, more TGC fun.

i was going to suggest the opposite. because there are [practically] no galant parts for sale for modding, people keep looking around online and eventually find this place. if people found more galant parts, they would mod their galants and have no need to keep searching and find this place.

i think my theory would acquire more people in the end, since it doesn't require recruitment from our mostly insane members. i know when I approach galant owners i probably seem like a crack head looking for a score.

You have a good point Peano. But, there are lots of people who also mod their galants and still find this place. What about Censee's latest recruit for instance at his school? He has wheels, exhaust, tail lights and then Censee found him. There are lots of those instances. If they were to find more listings for the Galant, they wouldn't have to look around and figure out that Eclipse parts fit and then find us, that would benifit us all. All I am saying is that this would bring the Galant's name to a higher value to the modding world.

I would have to agree. If it were not for the TGC how the hell would I know that the KYB AGX fit the Galant. Over all, helping manufacturers know information we know, may very well = more members bigger meets and more mods because they now know that there is money to be made on Galant owners. Here is an example on how we are neglected. IE.. The JC Whitney catalog would make any Galant owner believe that there are very little if almost no performance parts for the Galant. If they only knew.

Yeah but in our case we would have to pay more then lets say a honda owner. more exposure means more products, more products means more competition, and more competition means lower prices.

One advantage to having Tein list the application is a warranty for using it on a Galant

Me too. IDK either...its known by majority of us that whatever is a Eclipse application it will work on our Galant. (By generation of course) This is the beauty of Mitsu's Crossover platforms. Now..if you are looking for Galant specific interior and exterior applications then thats a different story..but as for suspension, engine, and some drivetrain just look for Eclipse applications.

I think also not having "Galant specific" applications listings makes us more aware of our cars..somewhat of a connection. Majority of us that have invested time, money, and research have forced in a way to learn about our Galants and automotive knowledge in general. I guess the luxury of not having the pick up a magazine look up year and model and pick what we want and buy it and slap it on is a benefit to us. Since we have to take the time and find what really works and fits our Galants...we actually know what it does and how it benefits. So...I don't really care if there isn't "Galant Specific" stuff on parts...its helps us be less obvious to those who are totally unaware of the potential Galants have.

Plus I love the most heard comment I get when people see either the 91 or 96 Galant:
"They make shit for Galants????? :? "

exactly. or even more so, when they ask "what kind of car is that??!". if galants started popping up in application guides we'd kind of lose our "wtf is that?" appeal. i love pulling up at school and seeing a bunch of director-wannabe assholes abnoxiously yelling that they know what kind of car it is.

"man the mazda 626 is slow!"
    "that's a nissan 240!"
someone even thought it was a subaru wrx

we're like the black unicorns of the road. i really don't want to see a ton of galants driving around with the same mods. drop, wheels, muffler......civic anyone?

hmm same here man.. all u see is just the usual cars out there..and u just wanna laught most of them when they wanna race u ... when u see a galant .. its like damn. .almsot like a rare moment (for me in jersey).. its like seeing a ferrari or lambo.. all u do is just stare at it.. thinking.. hey is that guy on TGC..

see heres the thing.. because honda parts are cheaper. ppl tend to rice out thier cars rather then making it look hot.. more exposure= rice (most of the time).. we have our looks from JDM parts.. you can even do like simple changes like a lip kit from a civic.. and it will look hot..

I've allready shown them my car numerous times. you must have been talking to a new salesperson; whatever, it's useless... who cares if they list the galant or not? we know they fit. the original tester for the 3G's was a GDImports car (a TGC member owned that company)! we have been at TEIN a bunch of times as my cousin was their w203 benz tester and got his SS's for free. bottom line is TEIN will not put their approval on a GALANT specific kit without testing (to minimize their liability); Tein will not list an application w/o thorough testing (i've seen the proccess first hand through my cousin's car. they take extensive measurements and corner weights/ shock rates/ spring rates etc., then send your stock springs (and sometimes struts) to japan where the prototype is produced, then back to the US for a test fit and more measurements. this proccess can go on as many cycles as they need to be satisfied). all that testing costs money. they won't spend that money unless there is a demand for the parts... so far there's only like 10 of us on the boards w/ TEIN coilovers (that's a high estimate), so where is the great demand that justifies spending more money on R&D? just b happy there are parts that fit our car... u guys have no idea what it takes to get TEIN to protype for your vehicle w/o real market demand... i tried it for years and never got it done, so i just went and got the eclipse SS-P's.
