    RIPP SDS Dyno

I got back from the dyno yesterday and I'm fairly happy with my numbers.

    231 WHP
    216 ft-lb

This is on a Mustang dyno, so I would expect around 270-280 WHP on a DynoJet. I did some rough figuring and 231 WHP on a Mustang dyno probably translates to about 300-320 BHP on my automatic tranny.

    Nice numbers 8)

What stage Ripp kit are you running, and do you have a pic of the graph?

Yeah, I'm going to scan the dyno graph this evening. This is the stage 1 kit on a 6g72 running ~7 psi.

Are you using the Ripp or the RPW shorty headers? Are you running with no cats now too?

Curious since my Ripp shorty headers are race headers and have no cats

Actually, I'm running the stock manifolds with 2.5" catback and Magnaflow race series muffler. I've been told by some people that having the stock manifold will cause excessive EGTs but as far as I can tell, all temperatures are acceptable. I am, however, putting on some RPW shorty headers in a few weeks. It doesn't seem that these stock manifolds are THAT much of a restriction right now @ ~6-7 psi. I mean, I see all kinds of boosted cars with log-style manifolds and the stock pre-cats and cats that never have any problems.

Nice numbers man. I bet thats right around where I am at, but hopefully I make a bit more torque.

Id like to see your complete mods list as of now. im not sure what all comes in the Rip stage 1 kit. But post up the graph! S/C dyno graphs are always fun to look at

Remember, these numbers came from a Mustang dyno not a Dynojet

Ok this might sound like a stupid question to some of you, but what's the difference between the 2 dynos? Can't seem to find an answer.

Mustang dynos make the car act like it was just driving down the road. It puts a load on the car, just as if you were driving down the street.

Dynojet dynos do not have the load, they just have hte weight of the drum that the car has to overcome.

Therefore Dynojet dyno numbers will always be higher then a Mustang dyno, but you will be able to get a much better tune on a Mustang dyno as its putting the same load on your car just as if you were driving down the road.

So if your a dyno queen and want the highest numbers you can get for bragging rights, you will dyno on a dynojet. If your wanting the best tune you can get for on the street driving, you want to dyno on a Mustang dyno.

Just two different brands of dynos, I dont think the Mustang dynos are affiliated with Ford at all, at least I wouldnt think so.

Wow dude, AFR of 6.9? That is deadly rich man! You want to be around 11.4! Get that thing tuned!

No, no. I didn't want to pay them to AFR log. My AEM wideband was reading 11 - 12.5 @ WOT so I think I'm okay for now. The eManage Ultimate should be smoothing out the curve as I drive (AFR Target) so I'll just leave it for now.

Ya, I was gonna say, there is no way your AFR can say that even...especially at 7lbs and with it running that rich. When are you getting your RPW headers? I ordered the RIPP headers and got them in 3 days...they've got a EGR on them now, so that's nice!

Haha was going to say, you have some major tuning issues to work out if the AFR was down to 6/7. Lowest mine has ever gone is 9 and thats dang rich haha.

How was the timing during the pulls? Have any logs from the eManage?

I've had the headers since I installed the SC but nobody wants to weld the downpipe for a reasonable price so I'm waiting until I get back home to Arkansas

What welding do you need to do on it??

No logs from the eManage, I didn't have my laptop out during the runs I let them do.

I ended up changing a few things on the eManage later on and dynoing it myself and went from about 217 WHP to 231 WHP after retarding the timing and smoothing out the fuel curve. I also have a feeling the guys at the dyno didn't know how to run my FWD car considering it was a mullet-mobile tuning shop (just went there for the Mustang dyno).

I'll probably do some logging of AFR and timing this weekend.

Well, there's a flange on the downpipe from RPW and there is no flange at the same location on my current downpipe, so... I need it welded there.

edit: and by that, I mean I'm too poor to pay a shop to install the headers for ~$400. I'm just turned 18 and I'm going to college, so... yeah. It took a while to save for this stuff and I didn't plan to pay for installation prices
