8g VR4. It bolts behind the strut tower and the strut tower. It's a heavy duty construction with good welds. You notice a big difference compared to others.

Like what Proto said..the construciton of the OEM Mitsubishi 8g VR4 strut bar is superior quality compared to the ones I have owned. It does bolt to the strut plate bolts and the rear upper control arm bolt. I noticed a difference in handling with the 8g oem strut bar...definitely a better bar and looks sweet too. The only thing is maybe because I don't have the DOHC hood, but the regular SOHC hood hits the bar just a bit and takes a little effort to close the hood.

It takes a little effort to close the hood and u notice the slightest hump from it. Its nothing major at all, i do have a really light imprint on the under hood cover.

Just to chime in..... the only reason my motor wasn't crushed in between the frame from that wreck.... was because of the strut bar.

a lot of welds broke in the chassis, a lot of metal was bent. but the strut bar saved the gap enough that i coudl still yank that engine.

i can garuntee if i didn't have that vr4 brace, my car wouldl have looked a whole lot worse

With that said, that bar is one of my favorite suspension pieces i have.
My favorite by far is the ralliart underbrace, but unless you are looking under the car.... you don't see it.
I just love the way the vr4 brace says mitsubishi on it. Really sets off the engine bay.

YO DOHC where did you get your underbrace from? I know you were the pioneer of this piece and don't know of anyone else that uses it but figured it got mashed up in your previous acident... If you don't mind could you point me in the direction of where to get one?

IIRC he got it off ebay. It's extremely hard to find and I don't believe anyone else has found another one. It's made for the JDM 8g VR-4 so if you can find a way to have it imported from ralliart in japan the more power to you.

bros i have placed the vr4 strutbar on my 7g but it created a slight hump on the hood. its a bit noticeable when looking sideways at the hood. what about yours?

  12. #32
do i need to lift the car when putting the strutbar? o just place it with the car standing? i noticed when i put the 3rd bolt its not centered in the hole. do i need wheel alignment now? which is right? thanks!

Mine didn't create a hump..but my hoods sits just a tiny bit higher than previous and closing the hood requires a bit more effort.

Its actually best to have the car sitting than lifted up when installing the strut bar. You are talking about the upper front strut bar right? Can you post a picture of the "3rd bolt not centered"?

I have the Dohc hump on my hood and the VR4 STB. It does fit against the strut bar when closed, but i doubt there is a way of avoiding it. you can adjust the rubber stops for when the hood is shut. i think they will push the hood up some to help relieve some stress from the STB.

    I don't :P

I haven't got one, as I'm doing some mods which may not allow it to fit.

As for ordering one, you can contact Ralli Art Directly, or talk to Trig, I'm sure he could sort you one easy enough.

Also, Cusco make one too, so that will make things easier :)

    Okay, I have bad news......

The Ralli Art Under brace is no longer in production......

However, the Cusco one is available from Autobacs for you guys in the states, they are very good cusco dealers.
