Automatic Tranny, not getting into gear

Recently, the shifts into/out of 3rd seemed a bit rough. And this morning, the car takes maybe a second to get into reverse (backing out of garage), then takes maybe 1-3 or more seconds to get into gear when in Drive. Sometimes, when getting into gear from a stop, it will catch but be very rough - what would be the problem? Car has 71000 miles, with tranny fluid changed at every 25000 miles. Tranny fluid was changed at 70000 miles when the shifting felt rough as mentioned above.

Yeah yeah, I can hear it now - manual swap! - answer is no for now :x

Unless someone wants to donate $2000 for the swap, then I will do it, otherwise, how about some real answers

did you try the old "reset the ecu" fix? i know every time i disconnect the battery the tranny is SHITTY until it relearns me... you could always try the lucas transmission fix, seemed to work pretty well for my rough shifting... i was slamming from 2nd to 3rd.... gone now...

FAWK! My tranny is pretty much soup.
For the record, that was about 10,000 on the tranny while boosted, with about 71000 total miles.

Anyone got a transmission for sale?

I would have to second that. Its not the best tranny, put boost on it and well, you get soup.

From what I understand, the part about the "designed for autos" would be in terms of fitment.

Honestly, I felt that this would happen, but I didn't expect it to happen so soon. For what its worth, I didn't have a tranny cooler installed yet, so I know the extra heat from boost surely helped to cook things up. If I had installed the cooler from the get-go, I'm sure I would have gotten a lot more miles out of my tranny.

Oh well, manual swap here I come.

UPDATE: Picked up the car from the stealership, and the tranny seems to be acting normal now :!:

Recap: yesterday, I added a bottle of Lucas Tranny Fix, as well as unhooked the battery to reset the ECU. When I tried to drive it this morning, she went into limp mode (3rd gear only) and I *barely* made it to the dealership - couple of time the engine stalled out and I had to drop to neutral, and restart  but I made it.

The guy at the dealership calls me back and tells me that the tech there thinks the tranny is pretty much dead. I ask what is the state of the car, and he says that the tranny was untouched, as the tech didnt want it falling apart Anyway, I get back to the dealer and the dealership guy turns out to also own a Galant and was wanting to hook up his ride. Anyway, I tell him about Galant Center so hopefully he does find his way here. I'm guessing that the ECU has a proper reset, as when I got her back the warning levels on my gauges were reset to default.

So as of now the tranny shifts okay - not butter-smooth like before, but a bit rough. I taking this as a short reprieve and am throwing the cooler on there ASAP, and hopefully this will buy me some time to aquire parts for the swap. Hopefully she will last through MOD, as I will keep here garaged as much as possible. If I am going to do the swap, I want to do it right - I hate to rush things, as it has gotten me into trouble in the past <cough>integra lip</cough>

Anyone need a kidney? Still in good condition!
