And I think I've decided my next car will be a Mazda 6, v6, 220 hp, sportronic tranny, no turbo but enough ponies to please me, add an intake, wheels, lip if it doesn't already have one, HUD, system and GPS, good to gooo

I'd rather have the knowledge and ability to do it than the money to buy it already done.

Not really...the RX's are the priciest to maintain. Any of Mazda's cylinder engine vehicles are just as much to fix as any other Japanese vehicle, and actually, the parts are usually a little cheaper at the dealerships than comparable parts from other makes, such as Toyota.
My dad used to have a 1989 Mazda 323 hatchback, and I remember running around to different parts stores for parts, only to find out that the factory parts at the dealer were only a few dollars more than what we paid for an aftermarket part. So my dad started shopping at the dealer more often, as long as the price gap wasn't too big between factory and aftermarket.
Rotary is a whole different market, and those cars require a lot more maintainance right from the beginning, so of course that will get costly.
