    Rear Deck Lid Garnish?

Does anyone have a this part? I'm talking about the chrome/painted part that's just above the license plate, approx 12" in length, 2" wide has the word GALANT on it. I'm looking for 99-02 SILVER please advise. According to the Dealer, this part is no longer painted, it's chrome or black-(ready for paint) Get a load of this, the Dealer wants $170.00!!!

They're REALLY ripping you off...I got mine for 78 bucks with shipping, they even threw in the Galant lettering. He's right about the not painted part though, few will tell you it comes painted. I had to get it from Mag-auto.com with a member's suggestion that I do a search for 1999 model Galant GTZs...only way I could find it color-keyed.

Thanks for the info. I was going to paint the one I have (chrome) but the body shop wouldn't guarantee the work because of the chrome plating. They will sand it, ruff it up as best they can, but no warranty

Good to hear...my bodyshop wouldn't touch my car for some reason, so I ended up pressuring the performance shop to do my body work reassuring them I'd be satisfied with the result no matter what...and indeed after a mindblowing 5 minutes it was perfect.

its not like that garnish is real chrome...is just plastic i think, with a chrome covering its not real chromed metal...

it may not be chrome but it is a metal, its liquified aluminum, sprayed by vapor

that's true but the chrome on the plastic is so much easier to remove than the chrome with a metal backing. with the plastic being soft compared to metal makes it so much easier to remove
