Dash ?

Ok has anyone taken there dash apart? like does anyone know what is underneath the rubbery layer is there a hard plastic shell under there, reason i am wandering is cause this guy had a civic and pulled the layers off his dash and sanded down the plastic shell and painted it and it looked just like a fiberglass dash but alot cheaper Among other things.. yes i pulled the rubber stuff off of the front of my dash and once you get all the padding stuff off of there (which is a major bitch) it is just plastic underneath which can be sanded and painted among other things. i relayed vinyl on mine, check it out on my cardomain.
