Well guys i took my car to the mechanic to have the timing belt changed. My mechanic whos pretty good at what he does noticed that the car was not iddleling well after he changed the timing belt, it kept on going up and down 200rpms.

He decides to check the spark plugs and finds water on two of my plugs, so he wipes them clean and puts them back on and sees that its still iddleling funny.

Well he decides to check the compression on my pistons and finds out that piston 1 and 2 are both real low on compressing compared to what they are supposed to be. He decides to take the head off the engine block and finds out that three of the four pistons have water in them, looks like the headgasket went or something and water got into the pistons.

He takes the head to be rebuilt and cleans out the engine and fixes the problem but now that i have the car back its makes a weird noice.

My car kind of grows as the rpms go up, i dont know whats up i check the engine and it iddles fine steady at 1000rps and doesnt make any noice but when i put her in gear and i start to drive off it growls and gets louder as the rpms go up and it bothers me cause the engine never made that growling noice. I got the car back on friday and i am waiting on monday to come cause i want to take the car back to the mechanic to ask him whats making that noice.

Guys what can you think causes this noice.

Id have to hear the noise. Its hard to figure out what a growl could sound like :P

Otherwise, its normal for the engine to get louder as the RPMs go up ... haha

ya, has something to do with the balance shaft. I remember getting my timing done once and my car had the same loud roar, but it was only while accelerating.

Not how fast your car goes but how good u drive going fast.

He checked the exhaust today and its good, all the gaskets are brand new.

The noice is a small growl that you can feel at the steering wheel and at your feet when you step on the brake or clutch or gas.

The growl gets louder as the rpms go up and seth i know cars make noice when they are opened up but the GS never made that noice or growl when she was opened up before.

About the balance shaft or pulley, well thats something that ill let him know so he can check.

well after checking some stuff my mechanic found out that the mounts was the cause of the problem, it looks like one mount is bad one is almost about to go bad and the other two are alright so he took them out cleaned them and bolted them on again real tight and the noice has gone away.

So thanks guys for your thoughts, my baby is back up and running good

Mounts cause vibration which might cause noise.

And its noise, not NOICE lol

never heard a noise from mounts,
other than a clunk when you mash it while in gear

but you shoudl have installed a set of prothane motor mounts
woudl have cost less or the same

Well now you have me thinking, i still havent changed the mounts cause i want to go ahead and order the prothane mounts.

The noice has gone down alot, but there is still a small growl but the engine is working wonderfull.

DOHC i can just order these and put them into the old mounts.

    Will these work

Dude, its NOISE not NOICE lol! Come on!

And those mounts wont work, you want the Prothane mounts for the 95-99 Eclipse/Talon 4g63t. You basically remove the old rubber mount and install these, except the front/rear trans, they are just inserts.
