If it weren't for you, I wouldn't have my 5 speed swap. Thanks Maurice, and thanks again Roman.

I don't know why it would cost you $2k. Goosey bought ALOT of aftermarket stuff. Flywheel, clutch, pressure plate, lines, bushings etc. You could get the swap done for around $1,000. I just said screw it and bought the whole 5-speed swap from Customgalant99 for $800 because it would save me legwork. Sure, I could have gotten it cheaper, but it came with EVERYTHING and I didn't have to go hunting.

Dude! I spent a total of 600 bux on my swap. All new parts too.

Not how fast your car goes but how good u drive going fast.

I'm starting to think I might have to sell a few other people's kidneys to get that AWD.

7G parts or 8G parts? There is a difference in price between the two.

No doubt. I'd prolly make that the next mod if it was that inexpensive and still nice.

Does anyone have an answer to the awd conversion part of the original thread question? Any idea of cost to convert to awd vr4 setup?

Its not cheap. Stewi projected a cost of $8-10k with all parts including drivetrain. Theres already multiple threads about it, try to do a search.

    8-10k might as well import a vr4.

Maybe It depends on how much would need to be done to it to license it on the road. I suspect there could be significant costs if the windows are tempered glass, thats just a starting point.

Someone on eclipseforums.org is doing it, he has already sunk $11k into it.

5 speeds are fun... but i would only do it if i had another car.. Im a lazy driver 90% of the time.. usually the only time i drive aggressive is when im out in the streets with the homies... most of the time im laying back chillin with jill scott or some other neo soul cd in the player... 5 speed isnt just in my life style right now with only one whip i would be mad regardless how much fun i recieved from it...

Ask anyone that usually rides with me i rarely go above 3k on the rpm gauges... lol i try to get the most mpg as possible and it works.... i never over accelerate... when im in cruies mode...

Yeah, you actually save gas with a manual transmission but you have to do some work.

Traffic = only reason why i thank goodness for automatics.

Traffic isn't even a big deal with a 5-speed. I take my time moving forward. Now hills, that's a different pain in the ass. The eBrake becomes your best friend.

Have you tried, holding the clutch in at around the friction point? if you have it there it wont roll back, and you can take off easier, no handbrake needed.

Don'e that, but I don't want to "powersand" my clutch. Which is basically what you are doing by holding the clutch to the engage point while giving it some gas.
