The Non-MIVEC ECU needs to be cracked and that's not something that's been done (assuming that the Non-MIVEC and MIVEC ECU's are different).

The new motors from Mitsubishi are pretty stout and defintley have room for improvment...I'm DIEING to see what a cam would do in this little SOHC that I've got...

Look into the Ripp kits they made for the 8g. Nothing but problems. Their black box is crap, I would go pure standalone if I was to buy their kit.
    7g for life!

Can you imagine trying to do a full stand alone for our cars? Everything is tied into the drive by wire system I'm pretty sure...

I've heard bad things about the 8G kit. Scared me off. The black box is indeed crap and I understand there's issues with the shaft that connects the belts to the Vortech. I also hear the belt tensioner is noisy.

On a side note - I dig the new avatar, XxGiRLaNT06xX I think everyone should have a picture of themselves in their underwear on the internet. Bonus cool points to anyone that can find mine! lol Here's a hint. I have a revolver in my hand and I'm in silk boxers with little chili peppers on them.

Damn, I was hoping to maybe contact them to port the black box to the 9G and have a tuning session done...but I guess not anymore.

Whether you want to go turbo or not this is impressive to see a 100hp increase at only 6psi of boost.

  19. #19
Even low boost is impressive...I'm half tempted to buy the kit and mod it to work with the non-mivec...but I'm not going to go full stand alone and not going to blow this motor due to fuel tunning issues.

x2 hehehehehe.. investing on the black box is kinda tricky. i's say wait to see if anybody would have any problems with it then decide.. but if they had the extra $$ then i'd say go to the reliable turbo setup.. mivecs on turbo..... monster!!
