    Lifter noise...

I had a bit of a search and I couldn't find the answer I'm looking for...

I know the best way to get rid of the lifter noise is with additives etc... but they don't work on my ones anymore, also they make my turbos whine so I'd prefer not to use it.

What I was wondering is does anyone know if they make new lifters for the 6A12TT/6A13TT with bigger 3mm hole in them, rather than the standard 1mm hole. As we put some in an evo, the ticking noise dissappeared, and hasn't returned.

I'm hoping they have been developed for my engine.

i'm retty sure all the lifters are the same.

    the 6g72, 6g74, 6g70, 4g63 sohc and dohc, 4g64 sohc and dohc
    all use the same lifters.

what i woudl do is call a dealer in yoru area and get the part number for yoru stock lifters,
we can always cross reference the part # although i'm sure they'd be the same.

you coudl always jsut install new oem ones if you can't get the revised lifters for yoru application

You could alway remove them and clean them in a solvent like brake cleaner. Most of the time they tic because they become clogged and dirty.

I used that FAQ when I cleaned my lifters. Not hard at all, dont have to take off the timing belt or anything to remove the rockers, pretty easy. But if your going to take them out, may as well just get the 3g revised lifters. Not too expensive, $149 from SBR:

    Thanks for the advice...

I'll have to check with my old work mates at mitsubishi... though I'm pretty sure that the 4G63T has different lifters, and I'll need 2 sets anyways as I'll require 24 not 16 :(
