    Mitsubishi emblem, interchangable?

Im wondering if the Mitsu logo on the trunk is interchangable with other year galants. For example, my 2001 has the red logo, whereas the 2002 has the silver logo. I want the silver one. Is it the same size? Everything going to line up alright? Or will I run into problems?

I dont see why it would cause any problems. I'm pretty sure it fits.

emblems are pretty much like a sticker so if the emblem will phyiscally fit, i don't see why you can't put them on.

note that if you get a smaller emblem, it might not cover the alignment holes

and note that if you get a different sized emblem, the alignment pins might be different so you might have to cut them off before installing them.

They are exactly the same.. Changed my red one to chrome and the chrome "Galant" strip to black... the only problem is that the chrome ones have a key hole and the 2002+ doesn't.. and I don't want to drill a hole so the lock is covered... :? it looks like a 2002+ from the back except for the tails which will be changed today for jap spec ones...

i switched mine to the black cf one you can get off an evo. the size is exactly the same, just had to shave a little of the tape on the top to get a perfectly flush.

Anybody ever tried switching one of the reds ones on the front of the 99-01's to the chrome ones off of the 02-03's? I don't like the red emblem on the front.

that looks good! that's the way i want to do mine

my car is like 6 years old, should i worry that the paint under my emblems wont match the rest of the car?

I took my emblems off last summer and the paint was fine. My G is a 2000.

if you take it off and the paint doesn't match, you could always put the emblem back on. just remove the old adhesive and put some new stuff on.

    thanks! :D

i was really afraid that the paint under the badges would be a different shade after i removed them. once i took them off (blowdryer and floss method), got rid of the tape with googone, then washed and waxed it, youd never know it was there.

i took off my badges last year and the car is a 2001 btw.

Thanks for the feedback all. Now I just have to find a warm enough day to get one off at the junkyard. Mitsu dealers want like $26 for one, F that.
