I'll put my 2.5F cap this week, I'll let you know some info about it after I put mine.
i just hooked mine up and it wasnt working no power to the cap or the amp. does the cap have to be charged befor i hook it up or am i not doing it right. the directions kinda sucked and made no since so my firned told me how to. is there a tortiorial on here how to hook one up? how i did it was unplug the amp and hook the main power cable and the ground to the cap then take a nother pice of power wire//ground and hook it to the cap the run that ti the amp. is that how to do it?

some caps need to be charged
battery + to cap +
amp + to cap +
amp - to cap -
cap - to ground
thats how i did it......... but caps really don't help much. just for looks.

make sure you connected it right if you didnt its garbage, and yes you are supposed to charg it thats what he resistor is for (wire w/ lightbulb)

When you bought it they were suppose to give you like a resistor or bulb type resistor. Hook it up run the +12 to the cap and when the bulb goes out that means its charged. Some caps dont have to be charged that way but some do.Originally Posted by WhiteGTZ01

Thats a debateable point.Originally Posted by kolio
true, but they have tested them and it really didn't help stabalize the voltage

A cap IMO should be the very last thing you do to upgrade your electrical system...
A cap isn't designed to stablize vehicle voltage, it buffers amperage drain on your electrical system, thats different than voltage.Originally Posted by kolio
I've seen them, sold them, used them. I know of famous dB Drag competitors like Alma Gates and her PPI Bronco used them.
Also you have to make sure you have a cap that is big enough for your system. I had a system that was wrecking alts every 8 to 12 months. I hooked up a cap and the car stopped going through alts. And the head lights stopped dimming when bass hit. The cap isn't going to stop all effects of the system on the electrical, but it does help. I dont know if anyone mentioned it but what a cap really is for is to store up power close to the amp so when the amp hits it pulls it from the cap instead of trying to pull power from the alt or battery. And they are better then a second battery, becauwse when you shut the car off the cap powers down. restoring the cars electrical system to its origanal state.
my cap came with a card which discharges and charges the cap, had to charge the cap b4 installation....the cap really did help cause now my interior lights dont dim and headlights stay sharp

I love my 2.5F cap, no diming in hedalights or interior anymore. It also has a digital voltage display and some blue LED's to match with my Subs box's lights!
I have a flux capacitor and it totally keeps my headlights from dimming when the bass hits. lol
Kinda looks like one with all the wires... Need to stick LEDs on it.
EDIT - ROFL

My capacitor was my savior... stopped the obnoxious dimming...
