Top Secret's V-12 Twin Turbo Toyota Supra

all i have to say is  its on the cover of super street magazine

If you're a japanese sportscars enthusiast, or if you're a video games freak, or maybe if you're into car tuning (that makes quite a lot of possibilities) then it is pretty sure that you know the Toyota Supra.

Born in 1979 the Supra became really famous with its latest version (MKIV, 1993-2002), its round but sporty look, inline 6 turbo motor, the quality of its mechanical parts and its huge tuning potential...but...still no sign of a new Supra coming from Toyota who decided to use a Lexus SC430 Coupe to replace the Supra in the Super GT championship.

No matter what, the Supra is not dead, far from actually...you might see it doing the headlines of some magazines thanks to crazy tuners like Smoky Nagata from japanese company Top Secret. Smoky Nagata is this guy with small eyes and big glasses who took a trip to the german autobahn in order to cruise in his fully modified Nissan Skyline G35(V8 engine) at...340km/h ! Videos of his various speed records are available all around the net.
Well it seems that this original V6 to V8 conversion in the Skyline gave him an idea for the Supra...so he replaced the 6 cylinders with a ...V12 !

With this 1.000HP V12 engine the Supra reinforces its image of "Lego" of the tuning world thanks to a chassis and gearbox that can barely support anything ! And this amazing body kit makes it really unique, so...welcome to the one and only V12 powered Toyota Supra !! Only in Japan !!

so they made less power with a v-12 twin, than most put down with a single large turbo and half the engine size and weight... well that's smart...

Yea but with that setup they probably have a better powerband than a 4 banger with a big single turbo that only makes 80hp till 6k then 700 after 6k.

Worthless, the origional I6 is good for 1600 hp on a stock bottom end. Alot of work for nothing.

Not really. Thats going to be one of the most talked about cars in the tuning world. Especially in Japan. Thats important for business. Besides I'm sure its running a paltry amount of boost.

Pretty much the same thing could be done with the 2JZ.
What base engine did he use anyway.

the Supra is an Inline-6 not a 4 banger.

and yes, the V12 was overkill the 2JZ could hold that much power easy.

The japanes have the wierdest headlight conversions ever! The stock headlamps woulda looked hella better!

here is the deal... when you are craning out 1,200 hp on a i 6 you are making all that power with one massive turbo that won't spool for the street. or autox or drift, or anythign else but drag.

not that this car woudl be useful on the street. but with a v12 you will have unearthly amounts of torque....
i'd rather be putting down 900 ft/lbs of torque(that spikes early and soars into the high rpms) than 1200hp peak or even 1500hp..... any day of the week.

its a insane conversion. car look super inside and out.

glad to see guys are still finding new things to do with old cars.

It wasn't directed just to a supra. I was trying to state the same thing dohcstunr posted above. How people think a single big turbo setup on a smaller engine will be better than a v-12 tt.

DOHCtner makes a great point. I do find that conversion pretty trick..and its a quality conversion too. Plus IMO...what else could you do to a Supra with a 2JZGTE? Top Secret has had probably a handful (or more) Supras under their belt with godly built 2JZ motors and now its probably redundant to build another 2JZ. So to keep Top Secret above the rest and hold up to their name...why not dump a V12 on one of Japan's legendary automobiles...who else has done that?

Or just spend some time tuning it and use a sequential turbo set up. I had a neighbor who was a freaking genious when it came to turbo set ups. Thats how he did all the 20+ supras that entered his garage.

This beast is going to be setup for a 249mph run. It is not for autocross or anything like that. Straight speed. The engine in stock form only has about 276 hp. There are no real tuning parts for it so Top Secret is going to have to make parts...pistons and what have you. When all is said and done, they will be pushing 1000hp. I personally think that is low, and I have a feeling if we see this car again it will be well over that 1k mark.

The headlights...look to me like they are from a Gallardo. Could be wrong but it is the closest thing I can come up with
