    rims and wheel question

    need some ideas or comments
    i got a 99 i4 stock
i am thinking about getting bigger rims and better tires.
i would like to get 17s BUT i've heard that if u get bigger wheels u need to drop the car too or else it would look like an SUV.
I really don't want to drop the car RIGHT NOW.
    I wouldn't mind 16s if i don't need to drop the car with 16s then I would get 16s.

now as for which size rims to get
would 17X7.5 fit?? 7.5 is that the width?
    what is bolt patterns???
    4X100 & 4X4.5
    5X4.5 & 5X120
    5X112 & 5X4.5
    5X4 & 5X120

    last but now least.

from the limited knowledge i have on cars.
    offsets
what offsets will fit the 8g??
    will 40MM fit?
the higher the # the more in it will fit right??

    thanks!

    btw

    what size tires?

I am not trying to be a jerk or anything but this question has been asked over and over and over and over (get the idea!) Try searching the board via the link at the top of the page next time please.

But you do not have to lower your car if you put larger rims on. Actually if you put 17's on your car without lowering it will have less or the same distance in the wheel well as stock depending on what size tires you get. So alot of people on here are running 17's on stock shock/spring setup. But I beleive taking about offsets you need to stay as close to a 45 offset as possible. But the bolt pattern on a ES V6 is 5x114.3. So anyway good luck and hope that helps!

man, you asked me this under the customizing forum and I answered you. If you're gonna ask a question, try waiting for more than 5 minutes for an answer. I'm at work, other people are doing other things. Just chill and wait for an answer instead of double posting.

I have 225/40/18 on 18x8.5 Rims and it has the exact wheel spacing as with the stock tires.

    what size tires?</div>

Click my sig for picture of a I4 Galant with 17s.

Stock offset is +46mm meaning the mounting point or the hub moves OUT 46mm hence the positive number.

As for wheel width? anything from 6 inches, 6.5 inches, 7 inches, 7.5 inches, and even 8 inches....should fit.

go to www.tirerack.com and read up on Offset, wheel width and proper tire size. Its rather informative.

The BEST size tire if you get 17s is 225/45-17
