    94 GS ECU question

I know the ECU is different from the 94 GS to my 95 S but is the 94GS ecu the same as the 1G n/t ecu??
I only ask as i'm going to be doing the headswap and i'm guessing since my galant is a 95 then I need a 1G ecu. I'm also using a 1G turbo head.

    they are different
i had to completely rewire my gs harness to accept the 1g ecu.

you might be better off gettting a complete 96-98 galant harness swapping it in for your obd1 harness,
and then make the few modifications to convert your obd2 harness to a 2g turbo harness,
then plug in the 95 eprom ecu and be on your way.

Can you be a little specific when you say you had to rewire the whole ecu?

I have the ECU from my old GS. PM me if you're interested. Also the GS ecu should be plug and play.

The gs ecu would give me the right timing fuel trim and let me rev it past 6250 right?

timing would be very aggressiver for boost,

it woul be plug and play in the sense that the harness will plug in,

but you will need to relocate a few pins, as well as run the wiring for the coil packs, knock sensor, and transistor pack.
as well as the wiring for the cam angle sensor.

when i say rewire the whole ecu harness,
i mean i identified and labeled each of the 72 wires on the stock ecu,
then i cut the connectors off with a pair of shears.

then i identified and labeled every singe wire on a 1g turbo eclipse harness,
then i cut the connectors off 6 inches from the connectiors

then i spliced those connectors into my stock vehicle harness.

    took about 20 hours

Well I want to see how fast I can go all motor in the 7G so don't you think the gs ecu would work out nice for me? Whats the rev limit on the GS??

i never pegged the needle but i think its 7k
not that you'd want to rev that high as the stroke doesn't allow for muhc power up there without some cams.

    but the redline(trivial) is 6250

You don't think the turbo 5spd 1G cams will breath all motor to 7k?

    you just said all motor.
    not turbo.

and even if it was turbo,
there is a point because of the 100mm stroke, and steep rod angle, that the piston speed is so great, that the cylinders litterally cannot be filled with the full 2.4l of air,
essentially you get a dramatic drop in volum5etric effieciency.

    so yes,
    a 2.4 doesn't breath well up there.
    a 2.0 4g63 breathes much much better at 7k than a 2.4 does.

but a 2.4 breathes much better between 2k and 5k
    thats why they are torquemonsters
