    Galant?

Hi, I'm new to the forums. I previously owned a 2000 maxima, and I was in love with that car, but I made a bad decision in buying it as a salvaged car. It SEEMED as if nothing was wrong, and nothing was for about 9 months, but after that it all went downhill from there.

I've been shopping for a car and the galant caught my eye. I like the body style of the car and the price. I'm not looking for losing a lot of money (buying the 00 maxima, selling, then buying another car) and this car is in my price range. I've heard good things about the 99 galants. Everyone says so many great things about these cars, but never anything bad. Maybe you guys could help me out before I go out and start shopping for one. Any feedback/advice would be great... Thanks guys!

I think you will get a biased opinion on this topic. The only complaint that I have for the Galant is the Brakes.

its a really great ride - have a 02 es and have 41k on it, and its been riding smooth ever since!! we don't have nearly as much aftermarket support as accord/integra/civic for the galant, but if you wanna STAND out and be different, then this is the ride!!! not to mention the sleek n smooth body design of the g-rides (galant)!!!

good luck on whatever your decision maybe - if it s the Infamous Galant, then "whatever" question you may have, it can be answered right here!!!

If you want something smooth and quiet like the Maxima, look for a V6. The only problem with the brakes is the rotors can warp easily. Aftermarket can fix that. With 4-wheel disc and ABS (like the V6 has) you'll stop damn fast. I'll sell you my '01 V6 with 9,700 miles for a good price.

the galants are safe too. uhm i got into a head on collision with a drunk driver. i was going maybe 40/50 mph possibly and he was doing maybe 30 i dunno but yea just bruises and whiplash. nothing bad bad. and o yea they're rebuilding my car so u know it isn't that fucked up

Webhosting for less than $3 a month? put "pinoyesv6" as a promo code.

I have an 02 ES and my rotors are already warped, but I love the car so much that I can overlook that minor problem

As everyone says the brakes r probably the only negative on the galants. However u prolly won't feel'em warp until maybe about the 2nd yr. Understandably, in my opinion, the Maxima is a way better car......speed wise, smoother car, better aftermarket support, and it offers a 6 speed. But to be biased, my 2k 8g v6 is the third mitsubishi we have and the second galant we have. My family has never had any problem w/any of our galants and least nothing too serious (cross my finger). Also, although the Galant may not offer a manual or does't have the 220-250 horses, it does offer a great suspension, overall bang for ur buck, and lastly if u r to buy one u would become part of the TGC family. Good luck in making the right choice.

I am going to have to agree with william, just cause you bought a crashed vehicle does not mean all maxes are crappy. My wife owns a Galant it has been reliable so far. It is dropped and has indiglos and thats it. This is what a 4th gen Maxima is capable of: You will need the Divx 5.02 codec to view the following vids

Thanks for your responses. It really helps

Yea, I'm not saying that all maxima's are bad, just the one that I bought. I was in love with the new gen. maximas. My maxima just started to fall apart piece by piece. I bought it from a private owner, and he was the person who bought the car bashed, and fixed it, then sold it to me. I've found parts that weren't even for my car...

sebring95: Where are you from? E-mail me, maybe we can talk... =)
