    5-speed 8G's

For emmissions testing, does being five-speed give ya a problem?

nope, emmisions is only based on the 02 sensors etc as long as they are functioning properly there should be no problem....nothing is changed for the exhaust sytem

Meh, Kansas doesnt test, so the EPA can kiss my ass.

but seriously, our cars are not complicated enough to have gear specific fuel and timing maps like newer cars do, which would change emissions.

oh ok. well, I was just wondering because the EPA testing centers have Galants as Automatic only on their system... what would they do if they see that the car is manual?

That's a good question that I was wondering myself...
What would they do if they realize the 8g is manual when it's automatic only?

didnt frankmb have a good story about his car going in for emissions testing when his car was a manual, but was listed as automatic only? i cant find the link ...maybe it was too old and doesnt exist *shrug*

If you post stupid and incorrect information, you will get red nuggets.

Well there was the rumor of the DE 5spds from 1999, so we all know there are some out there. Besides as long as it passes emissions than it shouldn't be an issue.

In IL all I do know is they read the obdII. You should be fine as long as there are no computer codes coming up in the system.

I'd imagine the testing center would kinda do what the dealer does, "what the hell", then all the techs crowd around the car trying to figure out what it is.
