$2000 self install > $450 to faster blow up your auto

I dont know how it is in IL. but in NY it wont pass unless its 99-00. It will throw 4 to 5 tranny codes on the machine and fail your ass.
Thats the problem Im having right now, I think my current inspection sticker ran out about a year ago and when April 07 came around my plates were up too. Now they wont let me re-new my plates until i get an inspection and I have expired plates on my car thats probaly costing me a small fortune in late fees (hopefully they dont suspend my licsense with out me knowing).
At this point though its not really a big deal because I picked up an old Jeep this past Sept 06 that Im enjoying so the Galant has been layed up in my parents driveway since then and currently reside in Maryland temporarily so it works out, but I do miss it.
Anyway there are ways around it like swapping out ECU's for 99-00 but that involves re-programming the immobilzer or going to a Eclipse 5spd ECU which Im trying to do right now so I can have the ECU flash advantage but its a big pain in the a$$ because you need to have a conversion harness made but know one makes it. Im currently trying to make a complete pinout chart for both ECU's so i can have a harness made made. I dont think anybody has done it before but Im gonna give it a shot.

I got a 2000 so it doesnt throw a code.

It should be possible to reflash an ignore into the ecu and retain the factory one.

the SES codes (and the money) are the only thing holdin me back from doin the swap as well. i think i'm gonna do the eclipse ECU swap when i do my tranny swap. I'll still keep my original ECU just in case.
