    compession check

I just did a compression check today to see how beat my little engine was from using/abusing nitrous before I go turbocharging it next weekend. I was very happy to see that I had between 160-165 psi in all cylinders. This is on an engine that has 102,000 miles and I've went though countless bottles.

The max pressure is 185psi and the min is 139. So in theory I could beat on this engine for another 100,000 miles!

I guess this goes to show how tough the bottom end really is on a 4g64....

hey where do you go for a compression check? I am curious on my car as well. I have more milage but I wanted to get a 50-75 shot and never did cuz I didnt know if it would hold up. But if my compression is good like yours and all my seals are ok then I might go ahead. Oh yeah how much too

You can just buy a gauge and the hoses and do it yourself or take it to any mechanic shop and they'll do it for you. It's really not that hard, i'd buy the gauges and do it myself so i'd have them if i ever wanted to check the compression again. Just my $.02
