    Subs Problem

    this is my friends post:
    i have a 12" alpine type x. idk y, but when it hits hard, the inside of the sub start sparking and it turns off and i gotta turn my car off then bak on to get it working again. you can see the sparks from behind (i have a 3/8" plexiglass back on my box)

    cut the level down on the amp..

    yeah.. amp's pushin too much and the sub is flexing too hard... what size is the amp going to the sub??

    Sparks equal extremely bad things. That's the voicecoil of the sub shorting out. Odds are pretty good permanent damage has already been done to the sub...
