If you can read Japanese there's a few out there that can display a screen showing the location of police with radar relative to your position. It also connects to the internet to download known speed traps and it can pick up signals from emergency vehicles so you don't get stuck behind an accident. It's like $300 though. Plus shipping.

I've got a $75 Whistler. It's got the basics as well as a radar detector detector detector. It detects cops with radar detector detectors and shuts off until it no longer detects them. :| I'm serious.

Valentine1 and Escort Passports are great radar detectors. My family and I have used Escort for atleast 10+ years. I am using the 8500 X50 model, but they make a newier 9500 series that is sick. My radar detector now is fantastic though. No complaints at all. People with Cobra's, Whitsler's, etc. usually ride behind me on the road because my radar detector is more sensetive and reliable. Gow ith what you can afford, but I would always stand behind my Escort Passports.

Escort offers a lifetime warranty on all their products. If anything goes wrong with it, you mail it back and they fix it or mail u a new one. If you have an old one, send it in when you get a new one and they give you money for it. Ebay does not do that. In fact if you get a Passport from Ebay, Escort will not honor their warranty for you. Better to buy it from Escort. Atleast you know it will work the right way, right out of the box.

Beltronics 995, very good. The laser detection saved my ass many times.

I'm thinking about getting the Beltronics STi Driver or RX65, Beltronics is a great brand IMO.

They do and they are illegal in many states. Scramblers are out there. Radar absorbent paint is also on the market. But if you fly by a cop doing 90 it's not like they NEED a radar reading to give you a ticket. In fact you'll get two if he tries to get a reading on you again and you're obviously preventing him from doing so.

Some dude from MIT recently tried covering his car in radar absorbent foam and he got the smack down from the man for preventing radar readings.

Paint? I wouldn't want to go that far because if I got caught they would make me repaint my car lol. I'm going to have to look for a good scrambler though...
