Sucks to have auto focus in the lens and not in the body.

And sucks to have your camera fail in any matter. My XT is still going strong, 16k clicks and about 8 months old.

im looking for a camera for my gf. i know nothing about cameras. I just know she was really interested in the canon 30d and 40d. what are essential lenses to get? I dont want to ask her too many questions without tipping her off that I am looking for a camera for her. and why are ebay prices so much cheaper than other retailers and ebay claims everything is new?

there are also USA models and "grey" models that comes from other country which makes the cost cheaper.

40Ds are in the 9xx.00 right now which is a pretty good price.

as for a lens, what's your budget. lol

Id take a 40d over a 30d anyday. As for lens, depends on what she wants to shoot. If you have a wallet and want a nice every day lens, the Canon 17-55mm f2.8IS is a great lens. Or just get the lens that comes on the 40d(17-85mm IS or 28-135mm IS).

Pretty cool shot, I want to rent the 100-400mm sometime for motocross, looks like a fun lens.

For those who missed this: Free Smugmug straps and stickers! They sent me two straps and a set of stickers. I replaced the stock Canon strap with the Smugmug strap and its much more comfortable.

I think I have a free trial Smugmug account, but I just put my username for the Canon POTN forums and they sent me the stuff for freeeez.

Shot my third local MMA event. Used the 35L again and had some good results. I was using a new A-data 8gb(I know, kinda cheap) memory card and got an Err 99 once, scared me to death. I turned the camera off, then back on, and it was fine. Hope I dont have any issues with it again, my XT has close to 20k accuations on it now. Think its about time to pickup a 40d and use the XT as a backup :(

You guys are slacking, go out and take some pictures!

I was bored tonight so I decided to take some pictures of my bike strobist style. I only have one flash so I manually triggered the flash during a long exposure. Tips and critique please! My first time doing a night strobist, the only light available was my flash.
