Alarm/Keyless problem

I've got a 97 Galant with the factory alarm/keyless entry. A few days ago I noticed that it stopped chirping when I used the remote to lock and unlock the doors (the lights still flash though). When I unlock the doors and after I get out and before I lock it, it chirps every 4-5 seconds. I just bought the car used a few weeks ago and don't know much about the car's history. Everything else seems to be working fine. If anybody has advice, I'd appreciate any help.

i have a 97 too and mine never did that when i lock it the dome light blinkls twice when i unlock it stays on for a few seconds never heard a chirp

call the dealer or look in the owners manual. it sould state how to change the settings. you might have accidentally reporgrammed it or something
