What is better, to do a 4g63t swap of just put a turbo onto a 4g64 and all the other things that will have to be done to the 4g64?

Depends on what you want. Do you want easy (4g63), or to you want more power, and loads more torque? (4g64t) 's up to you. Lots of ways to approach this one. Pros and cons on both sides, all told, they come out about neck and neck. But, you can take the '64 higher in hp than you can the '63 and the '64 will have more torque.

if my motor in the galant was shot...i'd swap to the '63. if my motor was still good, i'd keep the '64

I'm a diehard '64 guy. I think the '63 has been a bit overdone. (I think it's been dropped into just about every thing Mitsubishi has ever made at some point in time or another by someone wanting more power) Besides, I grew up oldschool so displacement is importent to me. But, the question is: How much power do you want, how quickly do you want it, how fat is your wallet?

The '63 will get you there faster, but the '64 will get you higher. The '63 can be cheaper, but you've already got the '64 so you'd only be adding stuff as opposed to getting a whole new engine. Parts are easier to find for the '63, and most stuff can be had more quickly and sometimes cheaper. Again, it's strictly up to you. In my opinion the '64 is the better engineered of the two (had a couple more years in development over the '63) and, you won't need a new hood (unless you have an ES) So, it's your call.

you can find parts for both very easily. but the 64 has much more torque and my pick

63 stroked to 2.3 is a close second!
