    Need ADVICE. New head unit.

Alright. I know this a galant forum. BUT Im looking for a new unit for my truck. 03' F150. SO It's Double DIN. Any suggestions appreciated. What would you advise into looking at as far a good unit. My budget is >400. So anything under that. I would really like a DVD player but what kind of quality issues would I be looking at with that budget? I Found a few players for under 400 that seem alright. 7" lcd 40 or 50 watts x4. Im just not sure about brands. I know some will swear by top name brands but some non brands might surprise you. So any help would be appreciated. I have a Clarion unit in the Galant and it's great, just dont have the same funds to get another Clarion. But any headunits you think might be worth it advise me, and it doesnt have to be with a TV, I would just like one. Please dont tell me Kenwood , I bought 3 of them and ALL 3 sucked because errors in the CD. So I wouldnt buy Kenwood units. Thanks for the help in advance. This is the one I seen BTW.

that radio is okay....i would say if that is your budget stay around the jensen (phase linear audiovox...all same mother company), dual is okay...power accoustic has a new lineup not sure on all the pricing....or you could always try ebay and try to snag a deal...i had a jensen before in my old g and it held its own...not the greatest out there but not bad...also a lot of the prices have come down recently so instead of just buying it right this second you could always try to save a little more and get something you want more maybee

another option which is probroblly the best is to go with a car pc...a little fiberglass work and you could be pretty much all set...if i were to do it all over again i would have went this way, and it can be done relativly cheap depending on what you put into it, and you could have more then some of the higher end systems

check out mp3car.com they have a lot of info....and can get you rundown and approx pricing as well as different setups....try talking to goosey2099 he builds them as well as a few other members i know bronxbmr also sells them and will build it to your specs etc, as far as everything you would need im not sure exactly on eeverything but basically...a touchscreen lcd, a cpu, and a power supply that hooks up to your car to turn the cpu on and off when the car is on and off but thats just a real basic rundown obviously

for that price, there isnt much out there, not for a double din

like Fatal1 said, the jensen units run about 399 and the picture quality isnt bad, but its only a single din application

    ebay is ur friend

A carpc might cost you a bit more than $400. I currently have a little over $500 into mine and I have done it the cheap way and am still using my Kenwood to run the sound to the speakers. I still have over $600 in things I have yet to purchase to get it done right.

Maybe you can find a used setup though on www.mp3car.com for a reasonable price. You are still going to need a screen though and some other odds and ends.

Alright then. I dont have too much more then that to spend so I suppose the carpc is gone. Also it's not for the Galant so bronxbombr , I wouldnt need that setup from sleepervr-4 but thanks for pointing that out . And 6G72Galant Crutchfield is probably one of the more expensive places to get a unit from (but, comes with hardware) and I been looking at http://www.onlinecarstereo.com/ and http://www.cardiscountstereos.com/?g...FQ9wZQodvgdTAg for something (seems cheaper). So thank you for the links! Anymore suggestions I would still appreciate. Like I said , any info you have as far as brands, good/bad experiances with, any info that can lead me to a nice unit. I know its ultimatly up to what I want, but Im just wondering what would YOU want. thanks for all the input guys.

I seen this and it's the biggest screen i found with double din for around the price. But XO Vision? Anybody have experiance with them?
This is the specs on the unit http://www.xovision.com/products.php...edia%20Systems

They have another one with bluetooth for 20-30 bucks more. Worth it? I know I can do research all day but valued opinions and test and trial from fellow members are more valueble (sp?) Thanks for the help guys.

If I were you I would just buy used. Then you can get a nicer brand like Alpine or Kenwood, something you know is going to be of good quality and not break.

I really don't know if I would bother messing with those cheaper brands.

no Kenwood, Ive had 3 bad experiances with them in a yr so they left a bad taste with me. Sure they look nice but they always messed up when it came to the cd player. Maybe bad luck 3 times? Anyways thanks for the input and Im not getting defensive Im just putting it out there.

To be honest, I have had more trouble with my Kenwood than any other head unit I have ever owned. They were all cd problems, some I was able to fix and one I wasn't. The sound quality and tuning options made it worth the trouble though (at least for me). Sounds like Kenwood has had some quality issues lately I guess.
