    ecu questions

    89--93 ecu are obdI correct?
94-95 ecu are obd1.5 but is consider like an obdI?
96+ are obdII and hence can be reflash unlike the obdI and obd1.5 since they require chips?

95 eclipse GSX ecu is the only OBDII ecu that is Eprom, and must have the letter E located on the cover, not M.

i think there are some OBDI 89-94 Eprom ecu's

Ahh, i might have gotten confused. Tell me do your GST's have a 135mph govener? i think they do. if you got a GSX ecu, it would be eprom AND NOT have a 135 mph govoner.

If i remember correctly, they put a govoner on gst's because the factory tires weren't rated the same as the gsx's. (Which is why the eclipse in Fast Furious "topped off at 140 mph." it wasn't about needing NOS, it was he needed to chip his ecu!)
But it's been a while since i heard that info so i might be all jumbled.

Both 95 Eclipse GST and GSX ECUs are EPROM. GST does have the speed governor at 137mph, GSX has no speed governor, only a tach redline at 7250RPMs.

Some 95 Galant ECUs are EPROM as well. You just either have to be good with reading HEX code or find a company to make you a new EPROM chip.

A lot of 91-94 Eclipse ECUs were EPROM as well.

Im good with Hex codes, its like programming dishes. Easier to just get the ecu tho.

    just get an ostrich.

    thats what i use.

its about the size of a ipod and the new ones have bluetooth, so no need for cables all over your car when you're tuning/

    dsmlink works the same way.
it turns the ecu into a flashable ecu.
