4g64 Tranny may fit 6a13 (saw this on club3g)

I made this a new thread because i really want to do this swap, just wanna hear some feedback.

For those that dont know, there is a twin turbo 2.5 liter V6(6a13tt) that was offered in the galant vr-4's; well if it can fit in a galant it can obviously fit in an eclipse right?
    ....almost.

The 6a13 is mated to an AWD transmission, and our eclipse is obviously not made to be AWD.

Well....there has always been discussion of attaching the 6a12(FWD 2.0 V6 in mitsubishi FTO) transmission to the 6a13. Now we have proof that it actually works, thanks to .org member MivecBoss. BUT the only problem is that the FTO isn't offered in the States, so its transmission is very hard to come by.

After some research i have discovered that the 6a12 and the 4g64 use almost the same exact transmission.

heres some pictures for proof.....somebody let me know if im wrong.

first image is from an eclipse service manual, second is from an fto service manual.

    gear ratios....
    4g64 6a12
    1st 3.583 3.583
    2nd 1.947 1.947
    3rd 1.379 1.379
    4th 1.030 1.030
    5th 0.767 0.820
    final gear ratio - 3.722 4.312

also 4g64 tranny is listed as "f5m42-2-f6nd" and the 6a12 is listed as "f5m42-2-v7a".

So, obviously it would bolt up, but would the gear ratios affect anything? Does anybody know or see any reason why we couldn't use the 4g64 tranny with the 6a13 motor?
    any ideas on this.....

Ohh man I thought that this was common knowledge already?

2 years ago Mante discovered this when he was looking for a tranny for the VR4, the EVO tranny bolts to the 6AXX block. With the vr4 to make it work right you need JDM older EVO trannies to be compatible with the AYC.

Finding the engine is easy. I have found tons!

So what I am getting is -
    -6a13tt
    -Auto/5speed tranny

and this will fit? What years do you need for the tranny to fit if it was a 5speed? And would the stock auto be able to hold up to a 6a13tt?

Same basic tranny code doesn't mean the same bellhousing though... Service diagrams often aren't accurate, sadly.

Example: GT/GTS Eclipses have a F5M51 manual tranny. Evo VIII 5-speeds have W5M51 trannies. Same transmission case, but completely different bellhousing design (beyond the AWD transfer case part).

so the s show that 2 are identical then why nt our tranny work ?? i searched this subject long time ago when i joined but didnt follow up on i gave up cuz i came to the conclusion that it would cost too much

but if our tranny would bolt up to the 6a12tt or 6a13tt then half the problem is solved, right ??

Damn, we have a lot of 6A13TT's down here in Miami, I see them all the time on ebay too, never thought it would be possible to mate the engine with the 5-speeds trannys. Bitchin'
