    Distributor

I am trying to get -G-rim running as its going to be the primary source of transportation for us. I am having problems recently and I am thinking the distributor is the problem.

Will a 94-95 7g distributor work properly on 96-98 7g's? I fitted my distributor from my old 95 7g and it bolts right up and the connector plugs plug in fine. The difference between 94-95 and 96-98 is the rotor and cap as they are different between the 2.

I need to know if it will work , if not I will have to find a 96-98 distributor. Thanks

Pretty positive it won't work. There is an extra sensor in the 94-95 dist. that is elsewhere on the 96-98 engines. Sorry bro.

That is the crank position sensor which is built in the distributor on 94-95, and it next to the timing belt and pulleys on 96-98. Thats why there are two differnt sizes of caps.

on94-95 its a crank/cam position sensor and 96-98 it only cam angle sensor

Yeah, that's what I meant. Sorry about that Kev, I'm working on day 3 without sleep and still have to make it the rest of the week. Anyways good luck getting g-rim running and I hope your fiance is doing well.

Thank you for the info and makes sense. I didn't remember pulling off a crank sensor off the 95 4g64 block when I was tearing it down a bit ago, unlike my 96 4g64 which does have the crank sensor for a plate between the BS pulley and TB pulley.

well they are different b/c of the size of the actual end of the dis rotor.....I ran into that problem....there are two different ones......just measure the end of dis were it fits into the cam
8g tranny is being rebuilt and waiting on ground control coilovers
7g is just sitting motor and tranny is out(need to finish, just lazy)
6g (vr4) motor is out getting the good stuff like a gt4088 and some more stupid stuff.
    Nice to be back!!!!

seeing that the 94-95 are odb1 and the 96+ is obd, i would ASS-U-ME that they are different
