There is an o-ring on the distributor that can be replaced. The distributor should be keyed so you won't have to worry about timing. The most you'll have to do is set cylinder #1 at TDC and line up the marks on the distributor key.
im leaking oil out of my distributer. Not out of the cap out of ware the distributer goes into the block. is that a oring or a gasket in there and how to do i make sure when i take it out that i keep the same timing?

well.. if you pull the distributor out... and umm dont move the shaft on it.. it should go back in just fine.. but if it does move. just eyeball the position of the cam and then eyeball it on the distributor. it only goes in one way. so you cant really fuck it up.Originally Posted by Galant306m
just take some white out and mae a mark that transitions the gap between the head and the distributor.
not aligning the distributor properly effects base ignition timing.
yank the distributor out, install the new oring, then slap that bith back in, and keep the white out lined up.
done.
