    Jurassic Galant

I picked up an old 1988 Galant Sigma V6 5 Speed. While the outside has seen better days, and has some overspray from where the previous owner repainted the bumpers/mirrors/spoiler  most of the interior held up surprisingly well and is very clean. The combination light/cruise control/HVAC panel attached to the steering column could use a refreshing (I have a replacement on order), though.

I am very amazed at all the advanced (for the time of 1988) gadgetry that is on the car, including selectable sport/normal steering (rack and pinion), wipers that tuck into to cowl when not in use, heated side mirrors, automatic climate control, and lots more storage spots than my 8G. I hate to say it, but the seats are actually much nicer than my 8G, as it has adjustable lumbar support, and the top of the headrest also tilts forward and backwards for better adjustment.

Engine is a 6G72, but not sure if it is 12 valve or 24 valve, and need to do some more research (hardly any info on the internet at all). Shes surprisingly quick off the line for such an old and heavy car and the engine still runs nicely, after over 333,000 miles :8O

The sound quality of Photobucket's videos suck, so here is a link to the original file, where you can hear the bass of the exhaust better:

(Sorry for the spam, but Firefox and NoScript hides all that crap).

    Nice 6G72... it's the 12 valve.

I thought this was going to be a Galant painted in the Jurassic Park color scheme like those Ford Explorers in the movie Don't know what to expect with all these killeeeeeeen Galants around.

    Awesome!

You know by the looks of it that engine bay could accommodate a 6G72TT from the 3kGT VR4.

Nice 5th gen.. it's the hardtop model too so has frame-less windows and the slant nose front. It's actually not as heavy as you think, it would be 1200kgs at the very most. I had a 4cyl 5th gen and it was just on 1000kgs. Nice to see it's a 5 speed, the autos slow them down alot. They have something around 150hp stock, but with intake and exhaust mods you can get them up higher.
