will 18X8 or 18X8.5 work on an all stock suspension?

i have 215/40/18 tires with my konig rims in them, but because of people who are dishonest, i got ripped off and they sold me a cracked rim. so im looking for new rims and i think i found a nice brand new set that i like, idn the price yet i have to go to the store, but the rim is either 18X8 or 18X8.5 will i have problems with them on my 8g

i was going to get my rim fixed, but it would cost another $200 for a set of rims that i already put enough money into. the tires are brand new and i dont want them to sit. ill just take the loss for what it was. if anyone wants the rims for a reasonable price that knows how to fix them, let me know

8.5" width is probably NOT going to work in the rear. What matters is offset AND width... I can't understand why people keep on posting these questions without being specific about the wheel specs.

245's will rub on an 8g, i dont think u can go wider than 225

Tire Rack is conservative in their fitments. What they show they guarentee fits. If its not shown they will still sell it if you want it, but won't allow return or guarentee of fitment.

Btw, I have 235/35-19s with 19x8" wheels with a +40mm offset. Stock suspension, rear fender lips rolled.

Reelax has 19x8.5" wheels with a +48mm offset. Tein Coilovers, 3" drop, camber corrected with rear fender lips cutout.

What he means is there is a recommend tire width and wheel width that works properly together.

If you are using 18x8" wheels its actually 9" wide. The 8" is measured from the bead area (where the tire and wheel meet). A 215 width tire is only 8.46" wide. That means the tire is actually THINNER than the wheel its being installed on.

Like I said above I have 235/35-19s on my 19x8" wheels.

well as you know im either selling the rims and tires or just the rims and keeping the tires, i found a nice rim package at town fair tire for around 900 but i wasnt sure if i could keep my tires since i know how good they are and use them on the 18X8 since thats the only size that rim comes in. the tire package that they are offering is for 225/40/18

well i would have saved well over $100 if the shop i used to get the tires gave me the right size. i found TGC after i bought my tires to get the correct size. the shop told me 215/40/18 which cost me $110 ea when if they told me the correct size i could have gotten 225/40/18 for $80 ea. i didnt buy the tires from the shop but they gave me the wrong size

i hate people who want that stretched tire look. Especially SUV owners The only thing good abut stretched tires is that the bead pops pretty easily when were installing new tires. Then again, we've also had plenty of people come in needing new wheels because when that stretched tire blew or had a leak, their wheel was damaged.

im not looking to go for the stretched look... it kinda looks stupid/ looks very unsafe. anyways if i do get the 18X8 ill just get new tires

The real reason why VW's (it's not just VW's - all other German vehicles) tend to stretch their tires when they go for the German look (analogous to our JDM look):

well the whole thing started in germany/belgium, local laws required that the tire tread be within the fender line. well that doesnt allow one to run wider or lower offset wheels, so they put narrower tires on the wheel to maintain legality
