Mystery button

I have a 1998 Mitsubishi galant 24 viento and below the spotlight switch theres an extra switch that i cant figure out.

it looks much like the window wiper symbol except it has dashed lines turning it on and off doesnt do anything obvious

tried looking up other dashes but none seem to have it

can anyone help?

am from new zealand

i was thinking it'd be the spotlights but pushing it doesnt turn any lights on or anything :S

ill take a picture of the button this evening

Its your rear window defroster. During late evenings or early mornings your rear windows should be "fogged" up...push that button and the lines that are running horizontally across your rear window should heat up and "defrost" the rear window to allow visability.

is it a button or a wheel switch (basically a dimmer switch that you spin
up or down)? If it is a wheel switch then I bet it controls the brightness of the interior lights. Why not post a picture of the switch?

Yeah I can't find any pics on Trademe with that mystery button. The only thing close is the mirror control and the dash light dimmer control.

it's not the foglights... he has been referring to the fog lights as the "spot lights" so we know he allready found that switch. there are no "spot lights" on the galant.

it's a japanese import, so even if he got a manual it would all be in japanese.

i've done so much research for my imported parts over the years, i can pretty much read japanese (or get it translated). haha! but yeah that could b a problem. if we saw a picture of the button in question tho, i'm pretty sure we could figure out what it does.

I Think I have one too it's right below the dimmer little to the right you can push it up and down haven't tried to bend it open don't want to actually but yeah I think its weird too and don't know what it's for.
