    What size rim?

Okay, I am in the market for some 17 inch rims and a friend of mine has some tires. The question is what size of rim do I need to have to fit his 245/45/17 on? And are the 245/45 too wide for the G? I have a 2002 with the 2.4.

    Thanks.

A 245 width tire is wide. You will have to get a wheel that is at least 8 inch wide to fit that tire and bead. You will most likely have to run a lower offset wheel...probably nothing lower than a +38 offset to clear any of the upper control arms and depending how low your car is its most likely going to rub.

I know 4G63lover is running the stock Evo Advans and those are 235/45/17's...so I would PM him and see what issues he might of ran into with that width tire.

I am running 245/40/17's on my 91 Galant VR4 on stock Evo wheels with no rubbing issue..but then again, the 6g Galant wheel wells are bigger than my 7g and my fiance's old 8g.

Polish bought his wheels from another member. They were Centerline wheels with 245/45-17s. If I remember right the wheels were 17x7.

However its not the best fitment for our cars.

No, I remember he didn't keep the 245's on long. He said they rubbed way too bad...

i'm not sure if this is normal but, i had a 1999 mitsubishi Galant LS V6 and i put 245's on them with 17" rims and i had rubbing issues, so i guess you should lower the size!

Thanks for the info. Like I said, my friend has them and was going to sell them to me if i wanted them. So, should i stay around the 225 area then?

You could get away with 7.5" width rims with 245/45 tires, but I'd stick to 8" wide. But, 225/45 is the best tires size for 17's. With 225/45's there isn't much room between the tire and rear control arm... maybe a half inch with the setup I had years ago. And the difference in height between the 225/45 and 245/45 setup is like .7", so...
