    1990 VR4 - Overdrive

Ive got a 1990 VR4 and the overdrive isnt kicking in. The light comes on on the dash, but no overdrive. Anyone any ideas what the problem could be?

Ok this is a bit of a guess but
Are you sure the light is on to say overdrive is not selected ????

Doing 70mph at 4000rpm, if you manually select overdive via the switch on the gearstick the light on the dash comes on but no change in rpm, so guessing its not kicking in.

slightly off-topic, but i've had a few problems with my auto transmission and i believe it may be due to using over drive. nowdays, i drive most places in 2nd and only shift into Drive when going over about 80-90km/h and upwards. I only turn OD 'on' (ie., the light disappears from the dash) when I'm going in excess of 100km/h. Since driving mainly in 2nd gear I've had much better mileage (from 350km per tank to 500km!)

Also - wish I never had OD because it makes it harder for me to change my gearstick since most auto shift knobs/sticks don't have an OD button on them
