    new wheels?

**EDIT** i talked to another member last night, i decided to keep the 16's and the 18's (tires only) ill junk the konigs or sell the 3 good ones on ebay, and then buy new rims to put the 18" tires on

thankyou for everyone that helped decide at first, but this may not be the cheapest way, but it will keep my 18" tires from going to waste, and ill get rid of the konigs like Reelax said to. thanks Reelax

okay, most of you prolly know the story about my 18's, if not heres a quick run down

over the summer i bought nice 18's, then i bought BRAND NEW tires for $110 each. not the PERFECT size for our car, but works. anyways i find out that not only the curb rash (not a big deal) but they have a crack and a bend. the people who sold me them lied. anyways

heres the question, im looking into some 17's for $250 but they need new tires. this time im asking all the questions possible and now i know how to inspect them. i found summer tires for $61 each new or all season for $74 each. should i keep the 18's, fix them, run them summer and buy the 17's put all seasons on them for the winer and sell my stocks

    what do you think?

edit: keep in mind, im keep 1 summer and 1 winter set either way, i dont have room for more or id buy the few sets of 17s that i found cheap and keep them all i only have room for 1 set on the car and 1 set in the basement, too bad i cant use my girlfriends dads shed

Since you live up where it's mostly winter time, I'd say get the 17's. That's just my .02 though.

    thanks for your opinion

what about this: get new rims for my new 18" tires and forget the 17's?

  13. #13
    since 17's = speed
and 18's = best of looks and go since your engine can still move them

so go from there. what are you looking for? speed? or speed and looks?

speed isnt a big deal, but ive been talkin to raz on the side, and i kinda like his idea. forget the 17's, throw new snow tires on the 16's and find new rims on ebay to replace the 18's since the tires are brand new

honestly, we are in a similar situation. by now i could have easily bought some cheap wheels, something around 100 a wheel. but think about it this way, is it worth it to save money now and have to pay to fix/replace wheels in the future

i would save money until you could afford a nice set of 17s/18s. the ones i want now are about 300 a wheel without tires.

in the end, you get what you pay for.

also, if your thinking about buying a new set of 18s and wrapping them in tires you have already, which you said arent the correct size for the galant, i wouldnt do it. try and sell those tires and get the right size if you go in that direction

they arent the perfect size, 225/40/18 they are 215/40/18 not much different, so they work
