Thx, but it is already known that the 95 has an Eprom ECU. We do not have a knock sensor and the last person who attempted to have the chip modified was notified that the procedure was extremely risky since it hasn't been attempted on an N/A eprom going turbo.

You can try to see if you can persuade the guy otherwise to modify a Galant EPROM for you. You'd be the first if it succeeds.

I think John sent Jeff-O at dsmchips.com a 95 Eprom ECU once and he said there wasnt a whole lot he could change or add.

Yeah i sent him an eprom ecu a while back. he can change injectors, and play with fuel/ timing maps.

but he woudl need a car to play with that he coudl lag and tune with.

but...... I haven't met anyone wth a 94-95 galant. or the trans-obd2 stealths that could log anything due to incompadability.

    A las

I know knock control is needed if going turbo or running more than 10:1 compression, I know one can use a knock alert system but it didn't retard timing for you. Mitsu begin in 1994 with two ecu: sohc and dohc, both non-rom; and then produce one more for Cali and make it a rom. And on the top of that, they release some early 95 models with a DOHC 4G64. Weird ecu for the the 94-95, that because of being a hybrid obd: obd 1.5. Read codes like a obd I but with a obd II style connector. That's why the obd II logger didn't work. Converting the port to obd I or rewire the obd II logger might work but there are a few companies that produce these 'hybrid' connecters along with a datalogger, most of us cannot afford a Mitsu MUT-II or time to rewire a 95 Eclipse ecu + harness.

Holy crap I knew about EvoScan, but for the price I didn't want to have to tote my laptop for an on the fly log for specific situation. I'll look into the MirageCorp "1.5" logger a lot more. Nice find!

Can you log and tune with a rom emulator?

You coudl still tune with a emulator like the ostrich(thats what i tune my 1g ecu w/ in the GS--- with DS-MAP.net speed density woot woot)
but yeah, you yould tune with the ostrich. still woudln't be able to log. Best bet woudl be to tune wth an emulator and tunerpro r/t , in tandem with a wideband, egt, and maybe a stethescope.

You'd be better to just run a piggy back system rather than try to play with the stock ECU, granted it's a little more expensive than just playing with your stock ECU, but still worth the money.
Alternatively, a completely standalone aftermarket ECU gives you more tuning options again.

I'm mapping the data link connector this weekend, so perhaps one can make a convertor using 1G DLC and an OBDII connector. As far as knock goes, I was reading this article. Still can't used it [ECU] with a DOHC swap.

    94-95 Data Link Connector Pinout

    Pin 1: Diagnostic/ECU output (ECU pin 42)
    Pin 2: Unknown/Usused
    Pin 3: Unknown/Usused
    Pin 4: Ground
    Pin 5: Ground
    Pin 6: TCU
Pin 7: Diagnostic Control Signal (ECU pin 43)
    Pin 8: ABS
    Pin 9: [Alarm]
    Pin 10: Unknown/Usused
    Pin 11: Unknown/Usused
    Pin 12: SRS/Airbag
    Pin 13: Cruise
    Pin 14: Vehicle Speed
    Pin 15: Unknown/Usused
    Pin 16: Power

When Pin 1 is grounded, the ECU display DTC's just as the 1G eclipse.
When Pin 7 is grounded(most likely to Pin 4), the ECU goes into diagnostic mode and information from Pin 1 is used to exchange to a scan tool or logger.

you have any experience with these cables from mirago corp? i never knew this existed (to this extent) and i must say this is serious headway into the ridiculously frusterating odb1.5 issue. made going turbo a nightmare.... gonna look into a palm

No, not first hand anyway. But while I was working at Toyota, I was able to access Alldata and it took me about two weeks just to make a pinout for the DLC because they have the DLC pinout hosted as a dizzy wiring scheme. So, had to sort out and trace all the wiring to the DLC using the 1G and mainly 2G DLC pinouts as blueprints. Right now, I don't have access to my car to splice the DLC and converted to a ALDI(OBD 1) port. But right now, I found another 94-95 style ecu...from Europe. I posted the non turbo one and will soon post the turbo ecu. For the 96-98 galant, I have possible found them a non turbo ecu with knock as well with eprom with some ecu.
