Alternator conversion: '99 to '00+

I think it's been covered before, but couldn't find any info with the search function. I have a '99 V6 Galant and it was the only year Mitsu used that specific alternator. Does anyone know how to adapt an alternator from a '00 and up V6 to use on a '99? I think I've heard that there is a bracket that is attached to the 00+ V6 engines that the alternator is attached to, and if I could get that bracket and attach it to my '99's engine I can use the newer alternators. Can anyone confirm or deny?
