OK so I was told that the brake light on my spoiler is out. Today when taking groceries out of the trunk, I notice one black and one red wire that was just bunched up starting to come out where the other wires come out (i'm assuming those ones are for the light for the license) would the red wire and black wire be for the brake light on the spoiler?

Sorry about that. Not sure why i didn't think about taking a picture so I ran out and took one..the red and black wires are the ones i'm talking to they just come out from the back of the trunk lid..

i would say spoiler. the ones running to your license plate would be in the wire cover
Yeah those are the spoiler wires! Easiest way is to conect them to your 3rd brake light's wire.
what would the black wire on the far left be for?

To open the trunk remotely, I think. If you have that feature. My 02 has it.

i tapped mine to behind the driver side tail light with wire taps and it worked like wonder
trace those 2 wires and see where they r connected and make sure they connected, if they loose then connect them and it should fix ur problem and if they connected then unscrew the light on the spoiler and make sure the wires behind it is connected as well

or is that just the cable to go to the latch? my '99 has that but i don't have a trunk pop via remote
you guys were right they went to the the spoiler brake light, went out there and hooked them up to the 3rd brake light and bingo it worked. Weird thing it was like they had a nice clean cut to them guess someone cut the lines or installed the spoiler after and never had the wires hooked up. Tomorrow I'll have to go out and tie up the excessive wires
