The problem is not your transmission dude. That would be you Axle and that is axle grease, easy fix.
so the story is, my little bro drives the past down family 8g galant. 02 auto i believe.
So basically the tranny quits on him while he was driving, gets it towed to the house.
I put it up on jacks, look under to find this mess.
Pics are from underneath the car

specs are 2000-02 8g galant. 4cyl, auto, about 140k on the clock.

No big deal, the axel popped out of the axle boot. It would probably be best just to buy a new axle all together instead of trying to replace the boot. All that grey/green gooey grease is axle grease that gets packed into the CV joint. This is no big deal, should cost $50-80 for a new axle, not sure on labor for somebody else to replace it.
Is there an axle floating around there somewhere? Or did it get pulled out of the spindle too? If thats the case, obviously you need an entire new axle for sure haha.
And also looks like your flex pipe could use some replacing, do you hear any loud exhaust leaks?
7g for life!
no exhaust leaks but the flex pipe is pretty frayed.
I'm thinking the axle must have flew off.
which started my confusion, couldn't figure out what was missing
;-( haha
OMG I hate axle grease, it smells terrible and sticks to everything

thank you guys for the help, going to take another long look, possible order a new axle.
Hope to get the galant back on the road soon, keep you guys updated.
:p
More pics is it's a reference for anyone.
What the drivers side looks like
Passenger side where it blew.
Ignore the rusted Rotors, this will obviously have to be done at the same time. That shit looks bad
Looking Straight Through from the passenger side. Axle go bye bye ;-(
so axle will be on the way and looking up some rotors and bads for em now.
Gotta get him to take better car of the ride. :smt065
pics too big?
Im still trying to figure this one out................................ How the hell could that happen? Other than it breaking at the splines or something.. the bolt is there at the hub.......................................???????? ??????????????????????
I take it theres no core charge on your axle? Usually there is, you might want to back track so you can use whats left as the core if there is.
nvm ;-(
